Florence allowing absentee voting for city elections

FLORENCE – The city of Florence has announced guidelines that will allow you to vote by absentee ballot for the Aug. 25 municipal elections.
According to a release from the city, this applies to anyone who is concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic. The release states the Alabama Secretary of State’s office is allowing voters to do so.
You can get a ballot online here or receive an application to vote absentee by mail by calling the City Clerk’s Office at 256-760-6679.
The deadline for completing the application is August 20.
On the ballot, check the box: “I have a physical illness or infirmity which prevents my attendance at the polls.”
You must include a copy of your photo identification with the ballot.
If you mail the ballot, address it to Attention: Absentee Election Manager, P.O. Box 98, Florence, AL 35631.
“Once your application is received along with the copy of your I.D., a ballot will be mailed,” city spokeswoman Rachel Mansell said. “Complete the ballot and mail it back or deliver in person by August 24.
“Absentee ballots must be postmarked by August 24 and received by noon on August 25 to be counted. One application per envelope.”
