FLORENCE — Authorities on Tuesday arrested a man on kidnapping and numerous additional charges after they say he kidnapped the mother of his former girlfriend last week.
Jason Larry Burns, 43, was taken into custody at his Gadsden home after he fled following an incident in which his former girlfriend claimed he had forced his way into her mother's home and taken her hostage. At some point she was able to sneak away.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Joe Hamilton said Burns is charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, third-degree domestic violence harassment, reckless endangerment, menacing and second-degree criminal mischief.
