The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for north Alabama from 7 p.m. tonight through 6 a.m. Thursday.
The advisory cautions that south winds will be 20 to 30 mph with gusts around 40 mph.
"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," the advisory states.
There also is a 100% chance of rain tonight.
After that, expect windy conditions Thursday with winds at 15 to 20 mph, increasing to 20 to 25 mph, and gusts as high as 40 mph during the day, according to the weather service.
The high will be in the mid-60s but the lows will fal lto around 43 degrees overnight, according to the forecast.
