Forecast brings flooding concerns

FLORENCE - As the Shoals continues to dig out from last week's snowfall, a different weather system has forecasters concerned.

The National Weather Service is anticipating 4-5 inches of rainfall for the Shoals this week, starting as early as Monday night and lasting off and on throughout the week.

The forecast calls for a 50% chance of rain overnight Monday night, mainly after 2 a.m. Tuesday. Rain chances the remainder of the week are 70% Tuesday and Tuesday night, 100% Wednesday and Wednesday night, 90% Thursday, 40% Thursday night, 20% Friday, 60% Friday night, 70% Saturday and 20% Saturday night. There is no rain in Sunday's forecast.

Forecasters said the good news is temperatures will stay above freezing, even at night, which will help get rid of any remaining snowfall.
