Shoals unemployment down to 2.6%

The Shoals unemployment rate in September was 2.6%, making 13 straight months under 3%, according to figures released Friday.

The rate is down from 2.7% in August, according to the figures, which are compiled by the Alabama Department of Labor in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

It represents 1,750 unemployed members of the Shoals Civilian Labor Force. There were 65,265 employed Shoals residents in September, according to the figures. The labor force grew slightly to 67,015 in September.

The Shoals Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Colbert and Lauderdale counties.
